This storage bunker mural was commissioned by City of Richmond Hill to celebrate their 150th anniversary. My design was inspired by Richmond Hill's history of trains as "rose capital" of Canada. The mural begins with roses to capture the past. The other flowers shown are Wood Poppies, Tulips and Blue Eyed Mary. On a visit to see the unpainted storage bunkers, I noticed many tulips grown by the Richmond Hill Garden and Horticultural Society. Wood Poppies and Blue Eyed Mary represent our future because they are on Ontario's list of Species at Risk. Connecting these four plants together are train tracks painted in the theme colours of RH150. These tracks celebrate the trains that contributed to Richmond Hill's development from a village to town - and city.
